New Beginnings
For the past 25 years, I have been working with Effective Microorganisms®, a formula developed in Japan in the 1960s and now used and made in over 100 countries. I first learned of the product in 1996 from my mother-in-law. She and her husband started teaching me how to use the product in my organic gardens at my Cape Cod, Massachusetts home. She also brought a copy of Dr. Teruo Higa’s An Earth Saving Revolution. I started working for EM Technologies, Inc., as an intern in 1998 and an employee by 2000. Eventually, I moved from Cape Cod, Massachusetts, to Tucson, Arizona, to work full-time for EM Technologies, Inc., and EM Hawaii dba EMROUSA Effective Microorganisms. While at EMROUSA, I helped develop a new sales and marketing system. In 2005 a few other partners and I started EM America, the world's first exclusive EM Technology distributor. In 2010 EM America restructured, taking on a new CEO and investors and changing its name to TeraGanix, Inc. By that time, I was in charge of the marketing and sales for the company until the company was sold in April of 2021.
During my tenure at TeraGanix, Inc., I wrote over 3,400 blog articles, three separate websites with 300 to 680 pages of information, published 50 articles in cannabis and gardening magazines, managed over 50 research projects using probiotics in crops and livestock, worked on the development and invention of 14 core products, including APC500 (an organic probiotic cleaning product), Dr. Don’s Oral Rinse and Toothpowder, Pro EM-1 Probiotic. I also created and wrote the manufacturing and sales manuals for each product. Over my twenty-five years working with EM Technology®, I have consulted on projects on six continents ranging from animal to human to soil health using probiotics.
I have an associate's degree in History from Cape Cod Community College and a BA in History from Bridgewater State College (now UMASS Bridgewater). I completed Master’s Level courses at Bridgewater State College in secondary education, the University of Phoenix Online, working on an MBA in Marketing, and UMASS Boston graduate study in American History. I also studied wastewater treatment at Massachusetts Maritime Academy and received a Massachusetts Grade IV Wastewater Treatment License. Most recently, I earned a certificate in digital marketing from Shaw Academy.
Since I no longer work for the company, I finally have the time to write the books I have been thinking of for many years. My first book was a cookbook called The Probiotic Cookbook. My next work, about to be published, is probiotics in oral health. I plan to write a series of books covering the vast applications of probiotics. This Substack page will expand on certain aspects of the books and follow up with recent research, as this is a quickly growing area of research. We all have lots going on in our lives. Therefore, I plan to keep posts to once or twice per week. I will also include links to products I am currently working with or interested in. In doing this, Let’s have some lively discussions and have fun!
Here’s to New Beginnings!
