Hi All,
I trust this note finds you well!
August flew by for me.
In the first few days of August, I began migrating our Probiotics Heal The World Podcast to a different platform (Podbean) to get more exposure. This proved a bit more cumbersome than I expected! Once it is up, you can access the podcast from Apple Podcasts, Podbean, Spotify, etc. I keep trying to improve the podcast and am starting to have some fun with it. I’m looking for some comments…let me know what you think of it!
I spent the first week in California helping on a project that involved several people and a 185-acre organic ranch growing organic greens. One of my former customer’s family asked for help applying probiotics to their farm. Harvest has just begun, so we will see how we did. We are mainly tracking yield, but based on my experiences with other farms, I also want to follow the effects on the soil. The soil pH ranges from 8.1 to 8.7. The ranch has clay soil and is irrigated with groundwater that may be salty.
The rest of the month was spent on a trip to Australia. A new client asked me to help with a few things, “probiotic” and a tour of the Eastern part of the country. It was my first time in Australia. I flew into Sydney. We drove nearly 2,000 miles the first week and didn’t get to the end! We went North into Queensland and back. Most of the time, we were along the coast and did several “walk and talks” along the many beaches. We did a few videos I need to edit, including a podcast I hope to have in the next week or so. The beaches were stunning! Take a look:
Upcoming are more profiles of founders of agriculture to evaluate different agricultural philosophies. We will then discuss some approaches to soil health and growing true organic crops. Be sure to check out the Monday post for “probiotics in the news!”
Very interesting! I did have a few questions: 1- what would be considered an ideal PH for soil and if it needed to be adjusted, what would be the standard in your industry for doing so 2- is the level of the salinity of the water considered salty or slightly brackish and would this affect the yield and/or flavor of the harvest? Finally, how do we find the pics of your beautiful trip? Oh yes, and - welcome back.
